Naturopathy is a complementary style of healing that is based upon traditional systems of medicine. With modern society causing all sorts of health issues for many, Naturopathy provides a different perspective on health and disease that revolves around you as an individual and the effects of your environment on your health and wellbeing. Philosophically, our work involves these 6 key principles:
First, do no harm
The Healing Power of Nature
Treat the Whole Person
Treat the cause
Physician as Teacher
Prevention
We are trained to use many forms of therapeutic applications, including but not limited to - herbal medicine, nutritional medicine, diet and lifestyle adjustments.
Herbs have been used for millennia to treat disease - it is where all our medicine came from. Today, the research behind the mechanisms of how the herbs work is growing everyday. We use evidence based approaches on treatment - meaning we dispense herbs based on their effects that have been observed scientifically in clinical trials.
Nutritional medicine involves the use of amino acids, nutrients, vitamins and minerals that exert observable biochemical effects in the body, which can help treat deficiencies, imbalances or provide therapeutic effects when correctly dispensed.
Diet and it's role in health has (finally) been acknowledged as a key factor in the prevention of illness, as well as support during acute disease and important in chronic illness - think diabetes or immunity. Food as medicine has been a philosophy for thousands of years and the science is catching up.Â
